METAL THEFT SPECIALISTS

The infrastructures of many utility providers have become the target of metal thieves due to the high value of metals such as copper and lead.

SmartWater has years of experience working with major utility providers across the UK and has achieved significant success in helping to both deter and detect metal theft. We don’t just sell you expensive security measures and walk away, we will work with you and develop a holistic crime fighting strategy that is both a meaningful deterrent and an invaluable police prosecution aid. Across our broad range of utility clients, we have been able to demonstrate significant reductions in crime.

IDENTIFYING RISK

The infrastructures of many utility providers have become the target of metal thieves due to the high value of metals such as copper and lead.

On your behalf we will carry out a comprehensive review of your historic crime data, providing a rich intelligence profile that can help to identify existing and emerging crime hotspots, patterns and trends. We can also perform on-the-ground risk assessments to identify other vulnerabilities. Taking this intelligence-led approach means that you can better plan your security buying and concentrate resources where they are needed the most.

SmartWater was the first forensic coding manufacturer to achieve a Grade A External classification as part of a Publicly Available Specification published by the British Standards Institution (PAS 820:2012). This means our forensic products have been independently tested to last the equivalent of 5 years in external weather conditions.

TARGETING RECEIVERS

To disrupt criminal behaviour and make it difficult for thieves to sell on stolen goods, SmartWater Investigators frequently visit scrap yards in partnership with the police to search for SmartWater-marked metals.

FOCUS ON:

UNDERCOVER TEST PURCHASES

Our Investigators also carry out undercover integrity tests at scrap yards to check compliance with the Scrap Metal Dealer’s Act (2013). The video footage to the right is taken from one such operation.

Please note: this video has been redacted to protect the identities of the operatives and other participants (WARNING – some foul language used).
